A Beautiful Sky

A certain recluse, I know not who, once said that no bonds attached him to this life, and the only thing he would regret leaving was the sky.

Do they not look at the sky above them?- How We have made it and adorned it, and there are no flaws in it?
The Quran, Chapter 50 Verse 6

"And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years,"
Genesis 1:14

I have seen the movement of the sinews of the sky, And the blood coursing in the veins of the moon.
Muhammad Iqbal

A screaming comes across the sky. It has happened before, but there is nothing to compare it to now.
Thomas Pynchon

Far clouds of feathery gold,
Shaded with deepest purple, gleam
Like islands on a dark blue sea.
Percy Bysshe Shelley

“This is love: to fly toward a secret sky, to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment. First to let go of life. Finally, to take a step without feet.”
Rumi

Emer the Artist

I recently took this series of photos of one of my best friends Emer. I've worked with Emer on many different projects over the years, she's an incredibly talented and soulful artist and urban planner. Emer will be showcasing some of her work at an upcoming exhibition

Wetlands Revisited

I went back to London Wetlands Centre today, it was as peaceful and glorious as ever! I would really love to live in one of those wildlife hides. That would be sweet! On a different note I'm not sure why but these images come out really blurry on blogger, if you want to see them in high def (as high def you can get with a w800i) click the photo ;-)

Making Waves

I recently took these shots at the Making Waves exhibition at The Wapping Project. Yohji Yamamoto’s work was stunning!

‘Recently installed in the Boiler House of the Wapping Hydraulic Power Station is Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto’s celebrated and oversized silk wedding dress with bamboo crinoline.

The dress is suspended from metal tanks in the Grade 2 listed (1890) Boiler House’s roof above a huge and bottomless tank of water, where it’s reflected beneath.

Created in collaboration with scenographer and lighting designer Masao Nihei, the installation in Wapping makes up the third element in a series of exhibitions devoted to Yamamoto’s work’

For anyone interested I found this clip on youtube

and she was gone....

Vanish

To pass from a visible to an invisible state; to go out of sight; to disappear; to fade; as, vapor vanishes from the sight by being dissipated; a ship vanishes from the sight of spectators on land.

Wells Firework Factory

I took this shot a couple years ago on an urban exploration trip to Wells Firework Factory in Dartford. Painted this rubbishy picture to go with it.

White House by the River

I took this shot in Woodbridge last week. On the other side of the Deben river stood this solitary white house amongst the quiet Suffolk countryside. I really like this photo for some reason. It's kind of symbolic of the human condition. Remote and longing...

I also found this photo of artist Edward Hoppers white house together with one of his stunning paintings. Thanks Ron!

The Colour Blue

Beautiful day yesterday! I took the first shot at Battersea Park, the second at Neptune Marina and the last one at Felixtowe. It was so nice driving through the Suffolk countryside, we even spotted a hot air balloon.

Lake of Dreams II

Ye Stone Lady

I took these while walking around Holborn last night. This statue of a lady representing fine art looked stunning and quite beautiful behind the dark starry sky. My cameraphone doesn't take good night shots, but I quite liked how the edits turned out.

On a different note, I just want to say thank you to everyone who's been commenting and following my blog. The great thing about blogging is you get to connect and share with so many people from all around the world. I feel like I've learnt so much from you guys, through reading your posts and looking at your inspiring photos and artworks! Its given me a pretty cool insight, thanks. :-)
